Deionized water is a type of purified water that is free of cations (positively charged mineral ions) and anions (negatively charged mineral ions). Deionized water has a wide range of uses, most commonly used alongside disinfectants to clean surgical instruments and sterilise surfaces. It can also be used in cosmetic products such as soaps, lotions, toothpastes and lipsticks, or even in a factory environment within cooling systems for lubrication that prevents overheating, helping to maintain safe temperatures.
